The Nigerian Army has supposedly arrested the female soldier who recently got proposed to in Kwara state NYSC orientation camp for accepting marriage proposal from corps member in public.

The Nigerian Army has detained the yet to be identified female soldier who accepted a viral marriage proposal from a male corps member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in a video that recently went viral.

The Army confirmed that the female soldier was placed under arrest since the recorded public proposal which took place at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Kwara State.

It was witnessed that the romantic event actually took place at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of Batch B, Stream 2 of the 2021 Corp Members on Tuesday.

It was also gathered that under the Terms and Conditions of Service in the Army, every recruit must stay single for the first three years of service, meaning that marriage is banned for such category of personnel for reasons best known to the Nigerian army.

In could be seen in the proposal video that the Corp Member was seen on his knees, asking for the female soldier’s hand in marriage with excitement from other Corp members in the background.

The female soldier accepted the proposal, got the ring fixed on her finger while they sealed the romantic display with a deep kiss bear hugs, amidst intermittent blushes.

However, the Nigerian Army, through a Signal, stated that the soldier has been identified and detained at a Military detention facility in Ilorin, pending further investigations.

She is currently in a guardroom and is facing the consequences of her actions according to an audio which also went viral recently. news and a voice note. 

Below are some of the reasons pointed out for her detention: 

- Not due for marriage.

- Romancing on uniform publicly. 

- Absent on parade.

- Indiscriminate behaviour. 

- Doing other things aside from her purpose in NYSC camp.

- Disobedience to standing order of social media rule. 

- Disobedience to ethics and tradition of the Nigerian Army.

A very big congratulation to the next 2026 Batch of Prospective Corps Members as their mobilization for NYSC has officially kicked off. Some schools like Ambrose Alli University  have just recently released their internal senate list which will be uploaded later and hardcopy sent to NYSC headquarters for verification. Uploading of senate list by your school's SAO (Student Affairs Officer) to NYSC senate list portal will commence afterwards i.e after internal senate lists are released. President Tinubu has approved the comprehensive reform of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which will see the agency being led by a civilian in its operational leadership, while the military will continue to handle security for corps members across the country. Tinubu also directed the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and the Minister of Youth, Ayodele Olawande, to amend the NYSC Act and its regulations to reflect all the approved reform measures, enabling immediate implementation of the new framework. This time it’s not about drills but responsibility and the next line of action for your own future.
