The Federal Government has approved the mobilization of polytechnic graduates who were previously barred from participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme due to part-time studies, all thanks to NAPS and all those involved in bringing about this new development.
Based on some sources, those affected are already being called back so please if you have been affected kindly reach out to your school as soon as possible to know your faith.
Below is an official information that was released with respect to this new development;
The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) is pleased to inform all affected Students and graduates of Nigerian polytechnics that the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has officially approved the mobilization of polytechnic graduates previously excluded from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) due to part-time National Diploma (ND) studies.
This landmark decision follows months of agitation, advocacy, and dialogue with relevant authorities, ensuring that students who completed their ND on a part-time basis and proceeded to full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) programs are no longer denied their constitutional right to participate in the NYSC scheme.
During his recent visit to Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State, the Honorable Minister reassured the affected students that he had approved a memo to the NYSC Director-General to facilitate their immediate mobilization.
He further confirmed that he has summoned the NYSC DG for a meeting in the next two weeks to finalize the implementation of this directive. NAPS recognizes this as a victory for equity, justice, and fairness in Nigeria's education system and remains committed to advocating for policies that uphold the rights and welfare of polytechnic students across the country.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, for his swift intervention and commitment to resolving this long-standing issue.
His dedication to inclusivity and fairness has rekindled hope among polytechnic students, reaffirming the government's commitment to equitable educational policies. We also appreciate the Nationa] Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and ali stakeholders who played a crucial role in pushing for this resolution.
All affected students should remain calm and patient as we closely monitor the implementation process. We urge the NYSC Directorate to act swiftly in compliance with the minister's directive to ensure affected graduates are mobilized with Batch A, Stream 1, 2025.
NAPS remains steadfast in its advocacy for polytechnic students and wil! continue to engage with relevant authorities to address pressing issues affecting technical and vocational education in Nigeria. See picture below:
